Thank Yous: What Quality Christian Schools Mean to Children and Parents

EVERY YEAR, the CLEF Good News Fund receives hundreds of thank you letters from children and parents. These families are blessed because people like you care about Christian education, its role and importance in the city of Chicago.

"Thank You" from Children and Parents:
"I would like to extend my sincerest thanks and gratitude to you for awarding my son a scholarship toward his tuition. This school has been the guiding light and most helpful when my son went through a rough time in his life. I know my son is in a very caring, loving and safe environment and this means the world to me since I am a single parent and the majority of my day is spent at work. Thank you again for giving my son the opportunity of having the best Christian education."

Rona (Parent)

"Thank you for the wonderful supplies for our classroom. They really help a lot. The book are good because they have color pictures and it's fun to learn with them."

Anthony (Student)

"Thank you for the new desks. Now we can fit all of our books in our desks and our stuff doesn't fall out."

Kyle (Student)

"I am one of those kids with a learning disability problem. Having a learning disability does not mean that you are "stupid." It means that you learn in a different way than is taught to you. I'm glad that you made it possible for me to work with teachers in a special program right in my own Lutheran school."

Eric (Student)

"Your organization is truly a blessing to our family. Words cannot express the joy of our family's being granted this scholarship. Your help will enable our children to continue their Christian education and growth in Christ."

(Parent)

"Thank You" from Principals and Teachers:
"Thank you for your terrific gift to our roof project. We are at the point where we can actually contract for repair of the worst and largest portion of our roof. By doing it at this time we can keep ahead of the cold weather and have a leakproof school this winter."

(Principal)

"Your grant was like a gift from heaven. It allowed us the opportunity to extend financial aid to seven children in four of our neediest families. It will also allow us to purchase desperately needed textbooks, art supplies and computer software."

(Principal)

"Your grant for the purchase of new math textbooks and the painting of the school halls is greatly appreciated. This financial help has enabled us to keep our textbooks current without passing on the costs to our parents. This, in turn, has helped us keep the students we have."

(Principal)

"Students who have never had the opportunity to work with computers are learning to utilize its full range of possibilities. The computer has enabled them to quickly research information in the computer encyclopedia. We thank all of you for bringing this opportunity to our school."

(Teacher)

"Your grant serves many important purposes -- letting our school's staff, students and congregation know that other people feel urban ministry is important and necessary."

(Principal)

"Because of your generous grant for this school year, four needy families are receiving financial assistance through your scholarship funding. We [also] purchased*much needed early childhood equipment for our Preschool/Child Care Center with your grant monies. The biggest thrill for me came when I told all of our teachers that they had $100 to spend any way they would like for material for their classrooms."

(Principal)

"We have a hard working, dedicated staff. We have parents who are willing to volunteer their services to keep our school in good repair, doing major cleaning (washing walls, scrubbing bathrooms, mopping and waxing floor, etc.). We have children who are wonderful and eager to learn. Unfortunately, our budget is slim. This is where you come into the picture. The staff, the parish school board, the parents, students and I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you have made possible."

(Principal)

"Thanks seem so little to say when you have helped in so many ways to keep our little school open in a time when so many are closing. Give our thanks to all who are responsible."
